Research and development
Thanks to the network established between the INSERM, University University , the ENVN, and our company(,partner of the pole of competitiveness Atlantic Biotherapy, that the technological transfers, the patents in common, or the exploitation licenses are realized and allowed not a single collaboration but a real research development partnership. This in interest of each part, for the development of the knowledge, the business, and the patient health improvements.
Leader of the Biphasic micro macroporous Bioceramics concept
The challenges of Biomatlante, strong of its experience of valuation since its creation more than 13 years ago, are to develop new surgical technologies and more efficient biomaterials, new matrices for tissue engineering, minimal invasive surgical technologies e, new generation of biomaterials.
Pioneer and leader of the concept of Micro Macroporous Biphasic Calcium Phosphate, Biomatlante was a precursor of the specific inserts for cages of fusion, and continue to innovate in the bioceramics anatomical forms, thanks to the technological control acquired during these last years in the synthesis and the shaping. Biomatlante gives to the surgeon the ideal compromise of a bone substitute according the "3R":
- Initial mechanical Resistance
- Resorption
- Bone Regeneration
It is the generic Biomatlante Bone Substitutes.
The generic Biomatlante Bone Substitutes benefited of an evolution to satisfy the biotechnological needs such as tissue engineering using matrices of new generation (MBCP 60/40.) combined with bone marrow or the techniques of msenchymal stem cells expansion. Biomatlante is pioneer in the elaboration of these specific matrices for the hybrid bone used by numerous worldwide teams and companies for research in biotechnology, Biomatlante is partner of research programs in tissue engineering certified by the ANR TecSan, of innovative programs for the reconstruction on irradiated territory.
Biomatlante controls, invests and innovates in the concept of functionalized granules. In this way Biomatlante has developed a specific range of granules of Calcium Phosphate microstructured Bioceramics:
• For non self hardening injectable bone substitutes MBCP gel®
• For hybrid composite associating bioceramics granules and fibrin glue (Tricos®).
• For moldable materials in putty form as Hydros®
• For Macroporous and Resorbable Calcium Phosphate Cements MCPC ®
• For Drug Delivery System, such as the association with peptides
• To improve the radioopacity of injectable biomaterials required in MIS Minimal Invasive Surgery, innovative radiopaques granules
Each Biomaterial has its advantages and its drawbacks and can be used for innovative solutions. Biomatlante has developed the concept “total resorbable " to satisfy the needs of the osteoarticular, maxillofacial and dental surgery. This range of product issued from the scientific program of the National Agency for Research ANR for Biotechnology BioRimp (Biomatlante is the coordinator) allowed to develop:
• Composites of PLDLLA and Calcium Phosphate Bioceramics granules for BCP for resorbable osteosynthesis (cervical and lumbar cage fusion, interference screw, others…)
• Porcine collagen membranes and sponges of high purity and micro –macro structured for RGD and GDR, or in association with the injectable substitutes (MBCP gel®, Hydros®, MCPC®)
• A new hydrogel reticulated by irradiation
At the top of innovation for functionalized matrices, the new hydrogel matrix of Biomatlante are a part of a recent program of innovation sponsored by the pole Atlantic Biothérapie. The network of partners was financial supported by French minister of Research and Industry, and the Country Pays de Loire. The program is devoted to the development of active molecules and their release in the field of the osseous tumors.
Active in the industrial development, Biomatlante also contributes to the evolution of the knowledge and participates to numerous publications in the larger international journals on biomaterials. Biomatlante presents his own research works in the best congresses of the discipline (Bioceramics 19, 20, 21, ESB 20, GRIBOI 2008, 8eme WBC).
